Hi!
My name is Jillian Daniel, founder of CTO. ( Calgary Theatre Online)
---> that's me!

I thought I should write about about the process behind getting this idea up and running.
What I want to do: I want to start with the first show of the season of each theatre company in Calgary and give 2 tickets to someone who knows nothing about the theatre scene in Calgary. Maybe they saw "A Christmas Carol" at Theatre Calgary three years ago and thats it. Maybe they saw a touring production of Cats. But have they heard of Sage Theatre? Downstage Performance Society? Lunchbox Theatre? Theatre Junction Grand?  ..  Probably not.

So, either by the generosity of the theatre company, or my own left over student loan money, I hope to get tickets and give it to a man who is currently working downtown in construction. Or a woman who is a barista at a local Starbucks. I don't care who. They just have to have 3 requirements:

1) Lack of knowledge about the theatre arts scene in our city (Calgary, Alberta)
2) Free time and the commitment to see a production.
3) Write a review for the site after the show.

I want other local calgarians to read the reviews written by people just like them.
We read theatre reviews by people in the Sun and the Herald, but these are people who have experienced theatre for several years.

This site will be written by people for the people in hopes to bring new light to the many unknown, eye-opening, brilliant work that Calgary really does produce.

So... fingers crossed, this will work.

Until next time,
Jillian.
